Hampi, traditionally known as pampa-kshetra, Kishkindha-Kshetra is derived from Pampa, which is the old name of Tungabhadra river. Hampi is a village and temple town recognized as a UNESCO Worls Heritage Site, listed as the group of Monuments in Northern Karnataka, India. It was one of the richest and largest cities in the world during its prime. Hampi is situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra River. Hampi is known for its historic ruins, it is a marvelous place to visit in south India.
